Hensenville Chapter 1.7

He should be sleeping. He knew that. But Griffin had unusual pull to search through the old Plaquemines Parish newspaper clippings marking his abandonment at the Boothville Venice Fire Station in Louisiana. Griffin loved his parents. But for some reason, he was starting to feel as if he needed to know who his birth parents are.
Soon after news of Baby John Doe spread around the state Japel and Rogen Spires drove down from New Orleans to Belle Chasse with their daughter Merietta and requested the honor of adopting the fire house baby. Japel was unable to carry another child and she and Rogen wanted another child. So Baby John Doe became Griffin Preston Spires.
The thing that bothered him was the note his birth mother left with him. It sounded like something out of a Tom and Jerry cartoon:
Dear Sirs,
Please watch over my baby, as I am not in a position to raise him. It is important to me that he is placed in a loving, health and safe home. He is to know that his birthday is the 17th of June. I am leaving him because I love him.
That was it. Why was his birthday so important? He was glad to have it but why did she bother putting it in the note? Griff needed to know.
